Two Awards & Counting
Only a month since I was nominated for my first award the Liebster Award and I’ve been nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award!
Thank you Alex & Tamsin from Life Begins With Travel!
Life Begins With Travel is a new blog but already doing amazing things. Tamsin nominated me on my blog post Finding my Feet as a Travel Blogger when I was feeling a little disheartened with the ‘business’ of blogging after a particularly harsh comment. So I want to thank her for nominating me at just the right time! There’s a lovely picture of her & Alex below. Don’t they look fab? Check out their blog, they’re counting down the days until they leave the UK!
What is the Blogger Recognition Award?
The purpose of this award is for bloggers to recognise each other, build networks and increase their reach.
Here are the guidelines for anyone who has been nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award, if they choose to accept the nomination:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
- Write a post to show your award
- Give a brief story of how your blog started
- Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
- Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to
- Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.
How The Wandering Welshie Began
Just about a year ago now I was struggling through my final year of my law degree. I had recently lost an election campaign but had had amazing feedback on my design and planning of my campaign. Once I’d convinced Ben that we should spend the next year saving money and then gallivanting across the world I decided that I wanted to blog about it too.
I’d had a go at creating WordPress sites for affiliate marketing before but had never managed to get it off the ground thanks to my degree in the way. But that was about to change with the imminent end of my education. I started my blog in the midst of revision in my library breaks. It was a great way to procrastinate, somehow I still managed to get a 2:1.
The last half of 2016 was spent finishing off the design of my blog, working 2 jobs and saving money. My blog really got off the ground in February 2017 when we actually started our travels and I had more time to build content and focus on everything blog related.
Advice to New Bloggers
1. Get Organised with a Blog Bujo
If you’re serious about growing your blog and being consistent then you need to try and get organised sooner rather than later. Get yourself a notebook, read up on the bullet journal system (seriously so great for staying organised) and you’ll feel better knowing exactly what is going on. Blogging can be very overwhelming and I just found it helped a lot to get organised.
2. Make Friends
Making connections with other bloggers is a really great way to grow your blog. You might feel a little intimidated or weird contacting people who you could think of as ‘competitors’ but I promise you that most bloggers are happy to help a newbie. Once you start connecting with people your audience will grow and grow.
